Owning a high-end luxury vehicle is something most of us can only dream of.

Jumping into a Ferrari, Bugatti or Rolls Royce for a joyride is a once in a lifetime experience for the average person, let alone owning one of these works of art.

But what about in the world of the super wealthy?

When you start to look at individuals with insanely high net worths, you move beyond the realm of simple luxury cars and into the ultra-luxury category. These are cars that are custom made, incredibly powerful and with more features than you can imagine.

All of these extra bells and whistles come at a steep cost, however, which can range from a serious splurge to the downright outrageous.

Here’s a list of the top 10 most eye-wateringly expensive cars in the world!

10. Bugatti Chiron

Successor to one of the most iconic and legendary hypersports cars ever made, the Bugatti Chiron breaks into the 10th place on our list at a very healthy CAD$3.5 million.

Surpassing the Bugatti Veyron in almost every way, the Chiron has long been seen as the pinnacle of production hypercars. It’s incredible 1,479 horsepower and 8.0L quad-turbocharged W16 engine allows it to reach 400 km/h in just 32.6 seconds – a world record!

The Chiron is electronically limited to 420 km/h, as Bugatti determined that no currently available consumer grade tires were capable of withstanding the intense requirements at the car’s true max speed.

Only 500 of these beasts were ever made, with many celebrities snapping them up including Cristiano Ronaldo, Dutch DJ Afrojack, and the Crown Prince of Qatar.

9. Ferrari FXX-K

When your car is so powerful it’s against the law, you know you’re looking at an absolute monster of a machine. The Ferrari FXX-K is the legendary Italian carmakers follow up to the FXX, and is a track day car for the super wealthy.

With an estimated cost of CAD$3.75 million, the Ferrari FXX-K produces 1,036 horsepower with its custom made V12 engine. Whilst not designed to be used in competitions, the car was built to give its privileged driver a completely uncompromising experience when racing around a track.

The Ferrari FXX-K has four unique operating modes to optimize for either short runs, long drives, greater recharging or maximum torque utilisation. It’s electric motor and superb design allow it to generate an incredible 540 kgs of downforce at 200 km/h, giving it exceptional handling even at high speeds.

If you’re looking for a street-legal version of this beast, the FXX-K is actually based on the tamer LaFerrari hybrid sports car, which will set you back a measly CAD$1.3 million.

8. Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio

The Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio makes it in at number eight on our list of fabulously expensive cars.

Built as a tribute to the late chairman and infamous automotive designer of the same name, the Pininfarina Sergio designed incredibly clean lines with a sensual design for a truly unique look.

Whilst the concept version of the car had a wildly futuristic windshieldless body and headrests built into the roll bar, the actual production model added in a windshield to make it street-legal and kept the headrests separate.

Only six units of the production model were ever made by Ferrari, and you had to be handpicked by the Italian design house to even be given the privilege of spending CAD$3.9 million on it.

Even though the performance stats won’t blow the Bugatti Chiron out of the water, the fact it is such a rare and expertly designed car makes the Pininfarina Sergio a uniquely compelling collectors item.

7. Aston Martin Valkyrie

It hasn’t even been released yet and the Aston Martin Valkyrie is already cracking number 10 on our list.

A collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, the Valkyrie will have an extremely limited run of 150 units and is projected to cost an astronomical CAD$4.2 million.

If you’re dropping that much change on a car, you better be getting something incredible and the Aston Martin Valkyrie delivers in spades. The makers claim that the Valkyrie will be the world’s fastest street-legal vehicle, which means it’ll have to go faster than the Koenigsegg Agera RS at 450 km/h!

With 1,130 horsepower and a completely unique hybrid drivetrain, the Aston Martin Valkyrie will be a serious statement piece for every car enthusiast. Hand crafted interiors and a high-tech carbon fibre body makes this an enviable addition to any car collection.

6. Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron by Mansory Vivere

Another Bugatti addition to our list, this time with some significant modifications from German luxury car modifiers, Mansory.

The Limited Edition Mason Vivere Bugatti Veyron takes an already expensive hypercar and cranks it up to 11 with a wallet-busting price tag of CAD$4.4 million. That’s a whopping $1.1 million in custom work!

So what do you get for an extra million?

A completely custom made carbon fibre body with a shortened bonnet, high-tech LED headlights and a redesigned front grill. Hand quilted Italian leather interiors combined with a handcrafted custom wheel offer a luxurious feeling and excellent handling.

If you have the money to splash on a Bugatti Veyron you probably have the money to upgrade to this incredible custom job so why not!

5. W Motors Lykan Hypersport

Technically tied with the Mansory Vivere, the W Sports Lykan HyperSports also costs a jaw-dropping CAD$4.4 million. However, the sheer ridiculousness of the Lebanese built hypercar just puts it out in front of the Bugatti on our list.

The first sports car to be designed and manufactured entirely in the Middle East, the Lykan HyperSports is certainly influenced by the opulence of its birthplace.

The car’s headlights come with 420 embedded jewels, with customers having the choice of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, or yellow diamonds when they purchase.

The interior comes with insanely lavish gold stitching, as well as a futuristic holographic display console that responds to motion features.

Only seven of these palaces on wheels have ever been sold, with one of them actually being picked up by the Abu Dhabi police force. Now that’s a cop car we wouldn’t mind being in the back of!

4.  Lamborghini Veneno

Lamborghini’s only entry on our list is an evolution of their iconic Aventador – the Lamborghini Veneno.

Built to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th birthday, the Veneno was introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and only five units were ever built. The prototype, called Car Zero, was finished in metallic grey and included Italian flag livery on the sides.

The motor was based on the Aventadors 6.5L V12 and retains its signature raw power, producing 740 horsepower with a top speed of 356 km/h.

Its aggressive and almost alien-like design is fitting of its name, which means ‘poison’ in Italian. It certainly looks like it could kill with envy!

How much will an ultra rare limited edition Lamborghini set you back? Just a cool CAD$5.8 million. We hope you’ve been saving!

3. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita

The lesser known Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg beats out Ferrari, Bugatti and Lamborghini to take out the third spot in our most expensive car list.

Their CCXR Trevita is so luxurious it’s literally covered in diamonds. Koenigsegg developed a completely new and unique method of treating the carbon fibre body with diamond dust to create the lustrous sheen.

The technique was so difficult and demanding to pull off that only two of the vehicles were ever made, making its CAD$6.2 million price tag seem almost reasonable.

It was even voted as one of the  most beautiful cars in history by Forbes  in 2009!

Not just a pretty face, the beastly 4.8L twin supercharged DOHC V8 engine produces 795 horsepower and has a max speed of over 400 km/h.

2. Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero

No list of expensive cars would be complete without a mention of a brand synonymous with luxury – Maybach.

Whilst a production Maybach is already a part of the super luxury category, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero is in a league of its own.

A one-off custom commissioned model requested by Fulda, the German subsidiary of Goodyear, the Exelero is one-of-a-kind and entirely unique.

Made to put Fulda’s new Exelero range of tires to the test, the ultra luxurious ride is reminiscent of Maybachs from the 1920s with a sweptail and distinctive front grill. The interiors are finished in premium red and dark leathers, neoprene, aluminium and glossy carbon fibre.

Being the first and only of its kind, the Exelero could be virtually priceless, but the ultra-wealthy people in the know have put a price of CAD$10.3 million on it. That’s a lot of cheddar!

1. Rolls-Royce Sweptail

Taking out the top spot in our list of world’s most expensive cars is none other than the Rolls-Royce Sweptail.

Revealed in 2017 at the yearly Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy, the Sweptail was completely custom built from the ground up for a mysterious billionaire by the British luxury carmaker. It took over four years from start to finish.

Taking several design cues from vintage Rolls-Royces and stylings of the world’s finest superyachts, the car features the iconic ‘sweptail’ back and the largest front grill ever produced for a Rolls-Royce.

Despite being an extremely large and wide vehicle, it can only seat two people in its oversized cabin. The rest of the body is taken up by a wooden luggage rack that wouldn’t look out of place on a yacht sailing the Caribbean.

A hidden champagne chiller and custom sized attache cases in the side doors create the ultimate cocoon of luxury for this lucky mystery buyer.

So how much does the world’s most expensive car cost? An absolutely insane CAD$16.8 million.

We guess if you’ve already got an island, private jet and mansions all over the world, a $16.8 million car probably isn’t out of the ordinary!

There are the 10 most expensive cars ever made by man, worth a combined CAD$63.25 million! That’s more than the GDP of several island nations, or almost enough to buy a condo in downtown Toronto!
